Mani-The hidden coast!

Spend at least one day travelling the Mesa Mani Peninsula by vehicle or motorcycle, stopping in as many communities as you can and enjoying the feeling of complete independence, regardless of where you stay.The Mani Peninsula, also known as Mina or Mana in the Middle Ages, is a geographic and cultural region in southern Greece with towering landscapes and beautiful settlements on the coast and hills. Just outside Gerolimenas, the beautiful town of Vathia, known for its towers built into the hills, dominates the surrounding countryside, and if you can visit one of the villages in Mani, it’s this small village you can visit. In this beautiful village, a walk through the streets lined with prickly pears is a must.

The magnificent tavernas of Neo Oitylos and Karavostasi serve fish from the Laconic Gulf. Don’t forget to try some of Lakonikos’ famed red shrimp. Take a stroll around Areopolis, a well-preserved historical town with stone roads and classic tower buildings, and stop for a coffee or a drink in one of the quaint medieval bars.

Take a stroll around Itilo’s old village, one of Mani’s most picturesque traditional villages. Its old stone homes are carved amphitheatrically into a cliff with a great view of the gorgeous Itilo Bay and opposite the medieval Monastery of Dekoulou, around 11 kilometres from Areopoli.
