This cannot be missing from the list. Corfu Town is one of the most famous cities in the Ionian Islands. The town of Corfu is heavily influenced by Venetians and French and has unique architecture, neoclassical buildings, picturesque squares and narrow stone streets. The old town of Kerkyra is surrounded by the sea and is sandwiched between two ancient castles. When you arrive by ferry, the humidity of the sea hides the town of Corfu, not revealing the old houses until the last minute. There is also a wonderful building along the west side of the Esplanade that reminds us of an old French occupation: Liston. Kerkyra Liston was built by French engineer Lesseps, who was inspired by Rue Rivoli in Paris. With beautiful galleries full of cafes and restaurants, Liston Hotel is now the center of Corfu’s social life.
